Clinton Jarrett
The End is in Sight
Our Knotted limbs have grown
brittle. Our fragile vessels
weathered, worn, decayed,
and boarded up.
Eyes still beam bright,
exude abundant lessons learned
and convey decades of
stored knowledge.
Brow withered like dried leaves.
Traffic circles furrowed around eyes,
rise over prominent bones, and
plummet among the valleys of our cheeks.
A timepiece discarded its hands.
The grains drained with increasing
velocity, through the wasp-waisted shape
toward our numbered days and appointed hours.
